Octavo, pp. [4], x, 416, [14] catalogue etc. Publisher’s original bottle-green pebbled cloth, sympathetically re-backed using with original spine laid-on; gilt titles to spine and upper board with decorative borders in blind to boards. Edges a little rubbed; tidy ownership inscription to upper corner of half-title and title page, in the same hand, otherwise contents clean. A Very Good copy.
 
Invalid’s companion to European health resorts, brought up-to-date to reflect the increased infrastructure and travel opportunities since the previous edition. Dr Edwin Lee (circa 1800-1870) was a medical reformer and prolific author on medical subjects, and an early advocate of spa treatments and the Cold Water Cure following extensive travels of his own on the continent.
