Primrose yellow endpapers. Boards bumped with wear to corners and stained & toned. From the library of Sir Elkanah Armitage, industrialist and Liberal politician, with his name and address inscribed to ffep dated 1849, the year of publication. Endpapers lightly soiled & creased otherwise contents clean. Lacks Plate IX; several plates a little mis-folded with associated nicks & creases to edge; minor foxing to plates. Overall a Very Good copy. Detailed account of the building of the Chester and Holyhead railway bridges at Conway and the Menai Straits, designed by Robert Stephenson with the Author’s assistance; the bridges enabled trains to carry passengers direct from London to the port at Holyhead.
