INSCRIBED ASSOCIATION COPY. FIRST EDITION. Large octavo, pp. xvi, 420. 60 photographic illustrations including frontispiece; folding map to rear. Publishers’ black cloth with gilt titles to spine. Covers lightly scuffed with creases to spine tips. Gift inscribed in year of publication to front pastedown: “Memento of a wonderful trip, Eric Sept 1932” to which has been added “Beauman” in a different hand. Scattered foxing mainly to textblock edge and prelims; small pink diamond shaped stamp to ffep. A Very Good copy.
 
Eric Bentley Beauman (1891- 1989) was a member of the Kamet expedition in 1931 along with leader of the party, Author F.S. Smythe. An experienced mountaineer, he was a founder member of the RAF, a Wing Commander and member of the Alpine Club and is naturally mentioned numerous times throughout the volume.
