The Author’s first book - an Alpine classic by Jane Quentin Freshfield (1814- 1901), pioneering female mountaineer and one of the first British women to explore the Alps. Family holidays in the area also inspired her son Douglas, who became President of the Alpine Club and editor of the Alpine Journal. Contents include vivid descriptions of adventures in the Gries and Albrun passes, the Mettelhorn and locations in the higher Swiss Alps. Rare.
