Deep midnight blue morocco bound by J B Hawes of Cambridge, with 5 raised bands, gilt titles to spine and gilt decoration to compartments, gilt line border to boards and dentelles, aeg. Marbled endpapers. Spine lightly scuffed to edge and sunned; minor wear to corners. Light foxing to prelims otherwise contents clean; no annotation or inscriptions.
A handsome copy of Morris’ translation. Today Morris (1834-96) is better known for his design work, poetry and socialism but he translated a number of works into English including many of the classics and Icelandic sagas.
