FIRST EDITION, Number 365 in a LIMITED EDITION of 450 copies SIGNED by the Author. Quarto, pp xviii. 5 woodcuts printed in text; 40 numbered woodcuts tipped-in to 36 leaves, each with captioned tissue guard, plus mouse woodcut tipped-in to rear (as issued). Original brown cloth with gilt titles to spine and pictorial paper onlay to panel in upper board. Cover cloth lightly rubbed to edges with small bump at head of spine and slightly bruised corners. Cover plate stained top edge with small nick and associated very minor loss. Foxing & toning to endpapers, faint foxing to limitation leaf and a little minor offsetting to guards otherwise contents clean. Overall condition: Very Good.
 
Leighton, the English-American artist (1898-1989) is best known for her wood engravings of rural subjects including agricultural workers many of which were used as book illustrations. This retrospective presents her work in chronological order up to publication. Scarce.
