New endpapers. Ownership inscription to first original blank; minor scattered foxing, several leaves corner creased and some small stains to textblock edge otherwise contents clean and bright. A Very Good copy.
Recipe book aimed at the colonial middle classes in India during the days of the British Empire, with the purpose of providing the native servants with clear instructions on how to provide the right dishes with the produce available. An Urdu translation was also published. Recipes include staple dishes of the time from soup to ices and beverages, with the addition of curries and “pelaus” appropriate to the locality. Scarce.
