FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp 322, [32] publishers’ catalogue. Frontispiece with tissue guard, vignette to title page and numerous illustrations in text by Edouard Cucuel. Original red cloth with gilt titles to spine and black and pink decoration to upper board with black titles and border. Teg. Edges rubbed and corners very lightly bruised. Faint foxing to endpapers; tissue guard toned. No annotation or inscriptions; pp 240-241 cracked at hinge but holding. A Good copy.
 
William Chambers Morrow (1854 - 1923) was an American author, best known today for his short stories of horror and suspense. This journalistic work, taken from the notebooks of the artist Cucuel, describes life in Paris during the Belle Epoque, with the focus on artists, models, students, nightlife and cafe society. Scarce.
