Publishers’ grey cloth with red and black titles to spine in unclipped pictorial dust-jacket designed by Roland Penrose. Cloth a little toned and rubbed to edge. Very light minor foxing to prelims; bookplate to front pastedown and ownership inscription to ffep otherwise contents clean. Jacket toned with small loss top edge head of spine & upper front joint and minor wear at corners and tail of spine.
An important work on the subject with contributions from Andre Breton, Hugh Sykes Davies, Paul Eluard and Georges Hugnet. Published following the International Surrealist Exhibition in London which drew record crowds and caused much misunderstanding and enthusiasm in 1936.
