Two volume matching complete set. Full tan diced calf with four raised bands, maroon calf labels, gilt titles and foliate decoration to compartments and gilt-ruled border to boards. All edges marbled, marbled endpapers. Edges a little scuffed with minor bruising to corners and light foxing to boards; faint foxing mainly to endpapers and plates. Ownership inscription of W J Thorp in ink to verso ffep Vol I and to verso first blank Vol II, with pencilled annotation below to Vol I. Essays on a wide range of subjects, written as though the Author was discussing them with Sir Thomas More. A handsome set.
