Numerous illustrations, mainly from photographs by the Author , including frontispiece of Mount Sir Sandford with captioned tissue guard; 2 fold-out maps, of which 1 in colour, & folding diagram. Book Condition: Near Fine. Jacket Condition: Very Good. Green cloth Remainder binding with black titles in unclipped Remainder wrapper with advertisements to rear but plain to front. Jacket spine sunned with numerous nicks & creases top edge & spine tips; small loss (approx 1/2"x 1/4" only) with associated creasing to lower edge near front fold. Inner rear hinge cracked; colour map creased from mis-folding otherwise a clean copy. This is the standard classic work on the Selkirks, covering the geography and history of the region as well as the ascent of the peaks; the Author was first to ascend Mount Sir Sandford together with his partner Holway and was a pioneer climber in the Rockies. Rare in jacket.
